About Twin Falls

Twin Falls...
...Twin Falls is located in south-central Idaho on Interstate 84 between Salt Lake City, UT and Portland, OR.

A vibrant city of 45,000 people, it sits at a high-desert elevation of 3,745 feet in South Central Idaho with the Snake River Canyon at its northern edge and Nevada to the south with the distant Sawtooth Mountains and Sun Valley rimming the northern horizon.  We are home to Shoshone Falls, the “Niagara of the West” and have become recognized as a world-class BASE jumping center due to the popularity of Perrine Bridge (500 feet to the Snake River).

Twin Falls, Idaho was started in 1904 as the center of commerce for the Twin Falls Irrigation Project.  I.B. Perrine had determined that the high desert Snake River Plain, supporting mainly native grasses and sagebrush, was really fertile volcanic ash soil that should grow any number of crops if one could just get the water from the Snake River, 500 feet down in a rugged and beautiful canyon, to flow through canals and on to the land.  Perrine and others were phenomenally successful and local farmers have been growing potatoes, sugar beets, forage, and other grain & seed products as well as raising dairy cattle in what we now know as ‘the Magic Valley’.  Our region has long been know as 'America's most diversified food basket'.

Twin Falls has long been an agricultural center with a vast number of employers engaged in food processing, food science, and support businesses.  The importance and impact of agriculture has also attracted other supplier companies such as plastics, trailers, and diversified manufacturing, tech businesses, back office operations.  Twin Falls is also the education, medical, and retail hub for the region with a pull of about 250,000.
