Downtown Development

Downtown is Twin Falls heart and soul.Downtown Twin Falls

It’s where this community started over a hundred years ago.  Downtown is very walkable and includes a mixture of historic and modern, residential and commercial, private business and civic, open spaces and parking lots.

TFURA has purchased Old Town property and demolished deteriorated buildings, improved streets and streetscape, installed street lighting and landscaping, installed new decorative signs, provided parking, and repaired infrastructure such as old, deteriorated water lines.  That has led to private businesses (such Glanbia Foods USA, First Federal Bank, and Fisher’s Technology) to invest millions of dollars to build new and renovate existing historic structures.

TFURA has assisted with many downtown projects that created hundreds of new jobs and has increased the City’s property tax base.

In 2014 TFURA began a new downtown revitalization project designed to accommodate the needs of current and future businesses, and to enhance the historic district for future development. The Main Avenue Redesign will completely overhaul 5 blocks of Main Avenue which will include new streets, sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, and parking. In addition, we will re-open Hansen Street for better connectivity, and create a new Downtown Commons where the Rogerson Building stood.  TFURA is partnering with the City of Twin Falls on this project – the City will completely renovate the former Banner Building (directly across the street from Rogerson) to create a new city hall.

Construction is scheduled to begin early 2016 with completion in the fall of 2017.
