Main Avenue Area Redesign Project Proceeding through Design Development

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

The Main Avenue Area Redesign project is moving forward into the next stage of work, which will involve development of design options.  The public is invited to attend a community design workshop on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Historic Ballroom located at 205 Shoshone Street North in Twin Falls.  The design team is interested in hearing about what improvements the public would like to see on Main Avenue.  “We want to understand what the community would like to see – including the aesthetic character of the Main Avenue streetscape and the types of redevelopment people feel would be most appropriate for Downtown Twin,” said Mandi Roberts, project manager for the Main Avenue Area Redesign project team. “We are hosting the October 16 community workshop so we can roll up our sleeves with community representatives and start drawing up specific ideas and options.” The workshop will gather input on elements such as signing and wayfinding, parking, public gathering places, intersection improvements, sidewalk width and paving, trees and landscaping, public art, historic interpretation, and other features to enhance Main Avenue and attract people to downtown year-round.  Community input from the workshop will help guide the design process as it moves forward.
